Friends and family of Healey Center for ALS patient Kathleen McCarron fielded a fundraising team for the Bourbon Chase Ragnar Race on October 18, 2019. The race, a two-day relay over 200 miles long, wound its way through the historic Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with occasional distillery visits along the way. The team consisted of 12 runners and nearly 40 support team members, all devoted to helping Kathleen and the Healey Center for ALS.
Shortly before the race, Kathleen sent the following message to her supporters:
"Thank you all for supporting TEAM KATHLEEN and the fight against ALS. On October 18th, many of my incredible friends and family are coming together to run the Bourbon Chase, a relay race between Louisville and Lexington Kentucky, to raise awareness for the need for more ALS research. I moved from Colorado to Massachusetts in 2018 to be close to family and to Mass General's Healey Center for ALS research, one of the finest centers for ALS research and care in the world. In June of this year I was accepted into a promising phase 3 clinical trial being sponsored by Brainstorm at the Healey Center. I have chosen to support this very special team and their efforts in the fight against ALS and I thank you for joining me!"
