In honor of National Nurses Week, Tim Quinn, celebrity makeup artist and national director of Creative Artistry for Giorgio Armani Beauty, visited the MGH’s Lawrence House for the sixth year to provide makeovers for Cancer Center nurses. Quinn is a cancer survivor who was treated at the MGH 10 years ago.
Despite his busy schedule – one that had him in New York the night before the event and in Los Angeles the next day – Quinn returns year after year to show his appreciation for the care he received. “This truly is my favorite day of the year, one that I would never miss,” said Quinn. “Unfortunately cancer touches everyone. Coming to the Cancer Center to celebrate these nurses is my passion.”
This year’s event was one of the largest to date, with more than 100 nurses receiving makeovers. They also took home a “swag bag” full of goodies, T-shirts, and were eligible to enter a raffle for a makeup gift box. The12 makeup artists who joined Quinn volunteer their time, and a number of them said the daylong event was extremely personal as they also have been treated for cancer at the MGH.
“This is an amazing group of amazing nurses,” said Yolanda Adames-Perperas, account executive for YSL-Armani Beauty, who was reunited with her physician Nancy Tarbell, MD, of Radiation Oncology, during the Armani event. “Every year this gets bigger and bigger, and these remarkable nurses walk out looking so fabulous. This is the very least we can do for them to walk out with a beautiful smile.”
