About Helen Hemley, MPA

Helen Hemley, MPA, is the Program Manager of the CARE Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her Master’s in Public Administration from Northeastern University and a BS in Communications from Emerson College.

In her role as program manager, Helen is responsible for directing the daily operations, including personnel supervision, grant management, strategic planning initiatives and financial oversight. She is also deeply involved in ongoing research projects and community engagement initiatives and oversees many of these activities.

Helen has a broad background in communications and community engagement. She has been involved in a variety of roles in the conduct of multicenter clinical trials and studies focused on the engagement and recruitment of underrepresented groups in clinical research, both at the organizational- and individual site-level. Prior to joining CARE, Helen worked as the community engagement coordinator for the All of Us Research Program New England Consortium; the communications specialist for the Department of Medicine at Mass General where she established the Medicine Community Health Council with Dr. Dean Xerras; and the Communications Coordinator for Brit Olam – International Volunteering and Development.
