Overview
The Massachusetts General Hospital Freedom Clinic, launched in April 2015, is a unique health care clinic for victims and survivors of human trafficking in the Boston area. Exclusively designed to care for trafficked persons, the Freedom Clinic is a cornerstone program of the Human Trafficking Initiative in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital established in 2008.
The Freedom Clinic offers primary and preventative care for persons with experiences of human trafficking ages 13 years and older. The clinic was thoughtfully designed to offer specialized services in a safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed setting. Our mission is to provide holistic, trauma-informed care to persons experiencing trafficking and to partner with local and regional social service providers to assist our patients with rebuilding their lives. The Mass General Freedom Clinic offers connections to mental/behavioral health and case management services and refers patients to trusted sub-specialists when specialized care is required, including nutrition, substance use disorder, and women’s health services. Our clinic aims to improve health and well-being, while also promoting healthy self-care behaviors.
