Thank you for your interest in learning more about social work at Mass General Hospital
Our social workers understand the impact of illness and related challenges on patients’ and their loved ones’ lives. Our experienced and caring clinicians help people address challenges, strengthen their coping skills and heal from painful experiences. We also assist patients in communicating meaningfully with their health care teams and gaining access to hospital and community resources.
Social workers cover all inpatient units and many outpatient clinics. Patients and families can ask their health care team for a referral.
Community health care professionals can refer an inpatient by calling 617-726-2643. For outpatient referrals please see our Service Areas and Programs page (Link to this new page- formerly Teams & Programs) for specific referral information.
MGH colleagues- please see our page for MGH health professionals. (Future link to PCS site).
