Services

The 3D Imaging Lab produces images to support patient care for a wide range of medical and surgical specialties.

Our dedicated, full-time team is highly trained on the latest 3D software applications to rapidly generate the most precise anatomical visualizations available in imaging today.

These services are available to all Mass General-affiliated researchers and clinicians who treat Mass General patients.

3D Post-Processing

When specificed at the time an exam is ordered, 3D imaging can create precise, anatomical visualizations of the body and assist radiologists in diagnostic interpretation to improve patient care.

Tele3D Imaging

Our Tele3D Service offers the same 3D clinical services beyond Mass General to hospitals and imaging centers without their own in-house 3D capabilities.

Patient Care in 3D

Mass General offers state-of-the-art 3D views of advanced imaging exams in order to create precise, anatomical visualizations of the body and assist radiologists in diagnostic interpretation to improve patient care.

When referring physicians request 3D imaging from Mass General, they receive valuable information to support treatment planning with no added demand on a patient's time during an exam.

Our dedicated, full-time team is specially trained to generate 3D views using protocols tailored to the clinical needs of over 45 types of exams. These protocols were developed over twenty years in conjunction with subspecialists in the Mass General Department of Radiology.

The 3D Imaging Lab processes 3D views for:

  • Over 130 exams per day for Mass General and its associated imaging centers
  • Over 100 exams per month for seven hospitals in four states via our Tele3D Service

In total, we have processed 3D views for over 400,000 exams since the service was established in 1999.
