About This Fellowship
The Webster Center for Quality and Safety is pleased to announce national and international visiting fellowships for radiologists and technologists interested in a comprehensive learning experience in CT radiation dose as it pertains to daily clinical practice. Separate curriculums will follow for radiologists and technologists. Our mission is to offer distinct educational opportunities to understand, comprehend and build lower radiation dose CT practices.
The three to five day national and international visiting fellowships in radiation safety for CT are designed to provide postgraduate radiologists with an opportunity to continue specialized education in different aspects of CT radiation dose. National and international visiting fellows will participate in the following educational opportunities.
- Orientation: Didactic presentations on CT radiation dose, including basic and advanced strategies for reducing radiation dose and current iterative reconstruction programs.
- Image-based learning: Steps to reduce radiation dose and interpretation of low-dose CT images. This is a self-guided and interactive program.
- How to make dose-efficient CT protocols: Interactive discussion on low-dose CT protocols with subspecialty radiologists such as abdominal, chest, pediatric and neuro-radiologists. A detailed discussion of low-dose protocols in specific disciplines.
- At the scanner: Witness low-dose CT examinations in routine clinical workflow. Learn how to save and implement low-dose CT protocols. Participate in a MCQ-based quiz on basic aspects of radiation dose.
- Clinical interpretation of low dose CT: Spend an optional day observing and interacting with subspecialty radiologists reporting CT examinations.
For national visiting fellows, the American College of Radiology certifies that this continuing medical education program meets the criteria for 40 credit hours per week in Category 1, provided it is completed as designed. Both national and international visiting fellows will receive a certificate of completion from the Webster Center for Quality and Safety.
The two to three day visiting fellowship in radiation safety for CT is designed to provide CT technologists with an opportunity to continue specialized education in different aspects of CT radiation dose.
Visiting fellows will participate in the following educational opportunities.
- Presentations on CT radiation dose: Understanding scan parameters. Risks and strategies for reducing radiation dose.
- Steps for making dose efficient CT protocols: Interactive discussions with lead technologists or radiologists. Recognizing low-dose CT images and troubleshooting.
- A day at the scanner: Witness low-dose CT examinations in routine clinical workflow with our technologists. Quiz on basic radiation aspects and its discussion.
Upon completion of the fellowship, visiting technologists will receive a certificate of completion from the Webster Center for Quality and Safety.
