About Bruce Kastin, MD

Bruce Kastin attended Boston University's BA/MD program, where in six years he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts and Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Medicine degree.  He pursued training in Internal Medicine and Neurology at The New York Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Relocating to Boca Raton, Florida, Dr. Kastin founded, built and administered a successful Adult Neurology practice where over the course of 20 years he cared for over 100,000 inpatients and outpatients across varied clinical settings.

In 2015, Dr. Kastin joined the MGH departments of Neurology and Pediatrics and the MGHfC Lurie Center for Autism, with an appointment to the teaching faculty of HMS as an Instructor in Neurology. While as a Comprehensive Neurologist he treats a broad spectrum of neurologic disease, his area of special clinical interest has continued to focus on the neurologic issues of adults with ASD, Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities.

In July 2016, Dr. Kastin brought his clinical and administrative experience and skill set to the role of Outpatient Medical Director for Neurology and in July 2017, became the Chief of the Division of Comprehensive Neurology at MGH. He believed strongly that the demand for general Neurology to serve our MGH primary care providers as well as the broader community would certainly continue to grow, and that a robust division of Comprehensive Neurology would be an integral part of any solution to our Neurology Department's ongoing access crisis.

Dr. Kastin has worked tirelessly to enhance patient access utilizing a re-imagined Comprehensive Neurology Division and its Access Clinician Educator (ACE) program. Colleagues in the division traditionally see one third of all new Neurology Ambulatory patient visits. Working with Dr. Steve Greenberg, Dr. Kastin helped to develop a pathway for Clinician-Educator promotion within MGH. As a Clinician-Educator himself, Dr. Kastin has been afforded the high honor of promotion to MGH Master Clinical Neurologist and was awarded the MGH Excellence in Action award by Dr. Peter Slavin for "exceptional performance and dedicated commitment to the highest standards of excellence."
