Nicte Mejia, MD, MPH, FAAN, director of the Mass General Neurology Community Health, Diversity and Inclusion program, was awarded the Audrey S. Penn Lectureship Award by the American Neurological Association during an awards ceremony at its Annual Meeting.

The Audrey S. Penn Lectureship Award is provided to ANA members who conduct outstanding research, program-building, or educational scholarship to promote health equity on health care disparities. On Monday, October 18, Mejia presented “Sustainability and Growth: the MGH Youth Neurology Education and Research Program” during the ANA’s virtual annual conference.

The Mass General Youth Neurology Education and Research Program, with the philanthropic support of the Biogen Foundation, provides educational and research opportunities in neurology for high school and undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds, including those who identify as female, Black, Latino, Native American, and first-generation youth across Massachusetts.
