Botulinum toxin therapy is available through the EMG laboratory in the Neuromuscular Disorders Unit to treat a variety of neurological conditions including:

- Hemifacial Spasm
- Spasticity from strokes, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury

Botulinum toxin in injected into specific muscles where it acts to reduce the involuntary contractions. An EMG machine with a specialized injection electrode is used to identify and locate the relevant muscles for treatment.
The dose is individualized and may change over time or in relation to your response
The injections are usually repeated every 3 to 4 months.
