Cytogenetics Laboratory

The Cytogenetics Laboratory offers a full complement of diagnostic chromosome tests for prenatal, perinatal, postnatal (pediatric and adult) and oncology specimens. Testing platforms include G-banded karyotyping, FISH (fresh and FFPE tissues) and microarray analyses of both constitutional specimens and solid tumors.

The Cytogenetics Laboratory comprises Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, all affiliates of Harvard Medical School.

In October 1996, Massachusetts General Hospital consolidated services with, and moved the laboratory to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In January 1998 the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute also joined to consolidate their services within this lab that now serves all three hospitals.  Find more information at the Center for Advanced Molecular Diagnostics, Cytogenetics Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
