Fellowship Opportunities
Fellowship opportunities are available in Cytopathology, Dermatopathology, Hematopathology, Medical Microbiology, Molecular Genetic Pathology, Neuropathology, Pathology Informatics, Subspecialty Surgical Pathology, and Transfusion Medicine.
Requirements
Cytopathology, Dermatopathology, Hematopathology, Neuropathology
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology or in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology acceptable to the American Board of Pathology
- Be eligible both for medical licensure and employment in Massachusetts
Molecular Genetic Pathology
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology acceptable to the American Board of Pathology
- Be eligible both for medical licensure and employment in Massachusetts
Subspecialty Surgical Pathology
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold certification in Anatomic Pathology or in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology or be eligible to sit for the certification examination given by the American Board of Pathology
- Be eligible both for medical licensure and employment in Massachusetts
Medical Microbiology
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Residency training in anatomic, clinical or combined anatomic/clinical pathology in a U.S. based training program, with primary certification or eligibility by the American Board of Pathology Fellows may also complete a U.S. primary residency in Internal Medicine followed by completion of a US subspecialty fellowship in Infectious Diseases
- Applicants must be eligible for a Massachusetts medical license
Transfusion Medicine

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed residency training in Clinical Pathology or in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology acceptable to the American Board of Pathology
- Be eligible both for medical licensure and employment in Massachusetts
Pathology Informatics
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed their residency training in anatomic, clinical or combined anatomic/clinical pathology, with primary certification or eligibility by the American Board of Pathology. If a graduate of an international medical school, the candidate should have a valid ECFMG certificate and visa
- In some cases however, fellows will be accepted before they are Board eligible. Such candidates must qualify for a limited (training) license in Massachusetts, present compelling reasons that the fellowship should be done prior to finishing residency, and have concrete plans for finishing their pathology residency training
