Sean M. Healey is Executive Chairman of Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (AMG). Mr. Healey joined AMG when it was a start-up in 1995 and together with his founding colleagues built the firm into one of the largest global asset management companies with over $830 billion under management – AMG is NYSE-listed and a component of the S&P 500. Prior to AMG, Sean began his career as an investment banker in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at Goldman Sachs.
Mr. Healey was diagnosed with ALS in May 2018. Following his diagnosis, he took a step back from his longtime role of Chairman and CEO at AMG in order to aggressively pursue treatment at the guidance of his doctor, Merit Cudkowicz, MD, MSc, Chief of Neurology at Mass General. Since his diagnosis, Mr. Healey also has committed to partnering with Mass General to accelerate the search for a cure for ALS by streamlining research and findings. Together with the extraordinary ALS research team at Mass General, and under the leadership of Dr. Cudkowicz, Mr. Healey set out to establish the Sean M. Healey and AMG Center for ALS at Mass General, which will leverage collaborative, interdisciplinary research efforts that bring together the best ideas from around the globe to accelerate understanding of disease biology and the development of effective, targeted therapies.
Mr. Healey and his wife, Amy, and their newborn daughter, Araminta, are based in Palm Beach, Florida and London. Mr. Healey also has a son, Alexander, and a daughter, Averill, who live in New York City. He serves as a trustee of the International Game Fish Association, in addition to being a member of the Visiting Committee of the Harvard Law School and the Council on Foreign Relations, and he recently became a member of the President’s Council. Mr. Healey received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. from University College, Dublin, and an A.B. at Harvard College.
