Explore the Sports Medicine Center

The Sports Medicine Center is committed to serving our current and new patients throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. We want you to know that your Sports Medicine providers and their staff remain with you and your family during this period. Here are some options for care at this time. We are available to answer and address any concerns you may have.

Virtual Care Visit

All patients (NEW or ESTABLISHED) can make a virtual visit appointment or phone call with our providers. Call 617-726-7500 or call one of our sports medicine doctors directly. The virtual visit is a good way to evaluate new injuries or recurrent pain, and check-in with your provider about your current condition. Discussions about options for surgery can also begin in this environment. Urgent in-person evaluations can be scheduled if needed based on the initial virtual visits. New patients must register (1-866-211-6588) before an any appointment can be made. You must enroll in Patient Gateway in order to have a virtual visit.

In-Person Clinical Care

For both patient and provider safety, the Sports Medicine Center has temporarily halted non-urgent in-person visits and converted all visits where possible to virtual visits or phone calls. We will continue to care for our patients with in-person clinical care when necessary (urgent issues). All patients will be screened on the phone and upon entering clinics for cough, shortness of breath, fever, and nausea/vomiting/diarrhea. Providers will then determine the best course of action for patients who present with COVID-19 symptoms.

To comply with current federal and state regulations regarding COVID-19, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has canceled all surgeries except those deemed urgent. However, if you are considering surgery, we encourage you to consult with one of our surgeons through a Virtual Care Visit so that we can begin to evaluate your needs and schedule you for surgery on a later date.

Physical Therapy

We also understand the importance of physical therapy. While it may be difficult to go to an office to receive care from your therapist in person, we have other options. You can set-up a virtual visit with a physical therapist. Call 617-643-9999 and leave a message. Please leave your name, callback number and the nature of your problem. You WILL receive a call back from our "Physical Therapist of the Day" in a timely fashion. You also may send an e-mail to MGHSportsPhysicalTherapy@partners.org. All e-mails will be answered by our "Physical Therapist of the Day." Our therapist will answer any questions that you have and will review options for further treatment (including assistance using telephone technology and virtual visits).

Also, you can view the Mass General Sports Physical Therapy website to see our comprehensive rehabilitation protocols or watch our rehabilitation videos.
